Many times an Apache warrior or scout would signal with a small mirror, or even the glint off his repeating rifle to a band of brothers below in the valley. The mountains were a stronghold for the Apache people because they knew that cities and villages were not a safe place to be. They had their own communities. The same is true today regarding cities.
