KAYTENNAE SUPREME APACHE WARRIOR

KAYTENNAE SUPREME APACHE WARRIOR

Kaytennae comes from the word "Kah" meaning arrow, the full name meant "fights without arrows" and was a name of great courage. He was a warm springs Apache and a held a high ranking in the council of Chief Nana. Maybe he got the name because his words were strong also! One incident describes how he yelled at some Apache scouts who decided to scout for the blue coats against their own people. He was on a ledge looking down at the scouts who were "cutting sign" (looking for tracks) of his band of people. He became enraged leaped to his feet and yelled "come up here we'll give you metal, more then you want. I have sharp metal for your treacherous hearts! Brave warriors who fight their people deserve reward. We'll give it!" The scouts fled! When the blue coats came looking he would station himself and those he led behind rocks on the side of a narrow pass and wait until they had passed the point of no return. He would then open fire, first taking down the horses and then the men, after which he would go down and take the ammunition belts and weapons. If there was any movement it was met with a quick war lance to finish them off. He was also close friends with Lozen and Gouyan the great warrior women. He ended up marrying Gouyan who rode with him on many raids!
